How do I set up the harvest plan?

Last updated
The harvest plan sets, for each season, the number of animals that can be harvested per species on your hunting ground, and manages the tags that go with them. What you set here feeds the harvest tracking and the attaching of tags during hunts. You must be administrator or manager of the hunting ground, or have the "Manage harvest plans" permission. With the "View harvest plans" permission alone, you can look at the plan but not change it. ## On mobile ### Add a species to the plan 1. Open the hunting ground, "Hunting ground" group, then **Harvest plan & tags**. 2. Choose the season with the pills at the top. The "Current" pill marks the current season. 3. Tap the plus button, at the top right. 4. In the "Species" sheet, tap the species. If it has categories, tap the one you want (for example Sow for wild boar), or **Unspecified** for the whole species. 5. For a regulated species whose category doesn't match a national root, the "Regulatory category" sheet opens. Choose the **National root**, add the **Departmental suffix (optional)** if needed, then tap **Add to the plan**. The line is created under the name of the category you chose, with a quota of 1. ### Set the quota and the tags 1. Tap the species card to open its details. 2. Adjust the quota with − and +, or type it using the keyboard. It is saved automatically, half a second after your last action. If the species has categories, each one has its line in the "Categories" section, with its own buttons. 3. For the tags of a species without categories, tap **Tags**. For a species with categories, tap, on the category's line, the pill that reads "None" or "N avail.". 4. Tap **Add a range**. 5. Fill in the **First number** and the **Quantity** (200 at most at a time), then tap the **Add** button followed by the number of tags, for example "Add 12 tags". The first number suggested follows the highest number already created on that line. ### Remove a species without categories 1. Tap the species card to open its details. 2. Tap **Remove the species from the plan**, at the bottom of the details. 3. In the "Remove this species from the plan?" alert, tap **Remove**. If the line has blank tags, the alert says they will be deleted with it. ### Remove a category 1. Tap the species card to open its details. 2. In the "Categories" section, tap, on the category's line, the pill that reads "None" or "N avail.". 3. Tap **Remove this category**, at the bottom of the screen. 4. In the "Remove this species from the plan?" alert, tap **Remove**. ### Delete an available tag (mobile) 1. Tap the species card to open its details. 2. For a species without categories, tap **Tags**. For a species with categories, tap the pill on the category's line ("None" or "N avail."). 3. In the tag list, tap the bin on the tag's line. Only a tag marked "Avail." has a bin. 4. In the "Delete this tag?" alert, tap **Delete**. ### Change a tag's status This is for declaring a tag lost or cancelled, or for making it available again. Only tags marked "Avail.", "Lost" or "Cancelled" can be changed. 1. Tap the species card to open its details. 2. For a species without categories, tap **Tags**. For a species with categories, tap the pill on the category's line ("None" or "N avail."). 3. In the tag list, tap the tag's status pill. 4. In the "Tag status" alert, tap the new status among those the alert offers (**Available**, **Lost** or **Cancelled**, other than the tag's current status). Changing a tag's status is done on the mobile app only. ### What can't be set on mobile Multiple categories, the department, the minimum quota, the price, **Unlimited** and **No tag needed** are set on the web. If a species has a line with several categories (created on the web) and other lines with a single category, the line with several categories reads "All sexes / categories" on mobile and has no **Remove this category** button. Remove it from the web, with **Delete** in the quota window. If it is the species' only line, **Remove the species from the plan** deletes it on mobile. ## On the web ### Add a species to the hunting ground This step is for when the species isn't in the table. The **Add a species** button needs the "Manage species" permission. 1. Click **Hunting grounds** in the menu, then your hunting ground. 2. "Hunting ground" group, click the **Harvest plan & tags** tab. 3. Click **Add a species**, at the top of the page. 4. In the "Add a species" window, click the species. Its record opens. ### Choose the season (web) The table shows the season chosen in the header of the hunting ground page. 1. Click **Hunting grounds** in the menu, then your hunting ground. 2. In the header of the hunting ground page, open the season selector and choose one. 3. "Hunting ground" group, click the **Harvest plan & tags** tab. The table follows the season you chose. ### Set a quota and its tags 1. Click **Hunting grounds** in the menu, then your hunting ground. 2. "Hunting ground" group, click the **Harvest plan & tags** tab. 3. Click the species in the table. Its record opens. 4. In the "Tags & harvest plan" block of the record, click **Add a quota**. To change an existing line, click the line. 5. In the window that opens, set the **Season**, the **Max quota** (or the **Unlimited** box), the tag code and the tags, then click **Save**. ### Delete a quota line 1. In the species record, click the line you want to delete. 2. At the bottom of the window, click **Delete**. 3. Click **Confirm**. The line's tags that are still available are deleted with it. ### Delete an available tag (web) 1. In the species record, click the quota line. 2. In the window that opens, find the tag marked "Avail." in the **Tags** block. 3. Click the bin next to that tag. Only a tag marked "Avail." has a bin. The tag is deleted straight away, with no confirmation. ### Remove a species from the hunting ground The button needs the "Manage species" permission. 1. Click **Hunting grounds** in the menu, then your hunting ground. 2. "Hunting ground" group, click the **Harvest plan & tags** tab. 3. Click the species in the table. Its record opens. 4. Click **Remove from the hunting ground**. 5. In the "Remove … from the hunting ground?" window (the species name replaces the dots), click **Remove**. The species is no longer offered when hunts are created. Its harvest plan lines aren't deleted. The table only shows the chosen season: if the species has lines for that season, it stays visible, greyed out. Without a line for that season, it disappears from that season's table. To remove a plan line itself, tap **Remove the species from the plan** in the species details on mobile, or click **Delete** in the quota window on the web. ## What the quota window sets on the web - **No tag needed**, the switch right at the top: no tag and no code to fill in. - **Categories**: for species that tell several apart (for example hind, calf, stag), tick one or more categories, or leave it on **Whole species** if the tag covers them all. - The tag: the **Department**, the **Tag code** printed on your harvest plan notification (for example CEM, CEF, CHM) and the **Suffix** (for example the 1 in CEM1). For a regulated species, a menu lists the national categories. For the others, type the code freely. A preview shows the full code. - The allocation: the **Season**, the **Max quota** (or the **Unlimited** box), the **Min quota** (optional) and the **Price (€)** if the harvest is paid for. - **Tags**: give the **First number** printed on your physical tags and the **Quantity** (200 at most at a time), then click **Generate**. When you create a line, they are created at the moment you save. ## The three levels of the plan 1. The species: red deer, roe deer, wild boar, and the others. 2. The quota line: the number allowed for a given season, with its tag code and its price if there is one. 3. The tags: the numbered physical markers, one per harvest. ## Good to know - An **Unlimited** line counts its harvests, but stays outside the overall total, the progress bar, the species quota and its cost. Ticking **Unlimited** turns the minimum quota off. On the web, as soon as a species has an **Unlimited** line, the table only shows "N harvested" for it. - A **No tag needed** line also counts its harvests, but stays outside the species quota, its cost and the "Total tag cost" of the **Harvest plan & tags** tab. A species that only has lines without tags reads "N harvested", with no quota and no bar. - On mobile, if the same line is already in the season's plan (same species, same category), Mes Chasses opens its record instead of creating it a second time. - A quota line can't hold more than 200 tags in total, on top of the limit of 200 per range. Tags already created count, whatever their status. - A line whose tags have already been used (attached, validated, lost, returned, cancelled or destroyed) keeps its species and its season: they can no longer be changed. For another species or another season, create a new line. - A line's quota can't go below the number of tags already attached ("Pending") or validated ("Used"). An **Unlimited** line doesn't have this limit. - Tag numbers are purely numeric. The department and the code come from the quota line; you don't have to type them again. - A tag is "Avail.", then "Pending" once attached, then "Used" once validated. It can also be "Lost", "Cancelled", "Returned" or "Destroyed". - On a past season, you can return unused tags to the federation or destroy them, as long as you can manage the plan. The action is permanent. - On mobile, tap **Return to the federation** or **Destroy** in the "Season … finished" banner. - On the web, click **Return the tags** or **Destroy the tags** in the "Close season …" block. These buttons stay greyed out for as long as tags are waiting to be validated. - The **Hunting ground species** button, at the bottom of the mobile screen, needs the "Manage species" permission. It sets the species allowed on the hunting ground; they feed the plan, the horn calls and the harvest logbook. - On the web, in "Ready for the hunt?" of a hunt, the **Harvest plan** line reads "Set up" as soon as the hunt's plan holds a species with a target, or a species outside the plan. Otherwise it reads "Not set", even if the hunting ground has quotas. - The quotas and the tags are then attached to the hunts, from each hunt's plan. During the hunt, the available tags appear when you record a harvest. ## Troubleshooting - "I can't delete a quota line": a tag on that line is no longer available (attached, validated, lost, returned), or a hunt uses the line. The history has to stay intact. The tags that are still available are deleted with the line. - "My tags are refused even though my range is under 200": the quota line already holds some, and the total can't go over 200. The message "A harvest plan can't hold more than 200 tags." appears. Add only the number that is left, or create another quota line. - "Number 12 already exists on this line. Choose a range that starts after the last tag.": the range reuses a number already on that line. When the range holds several tags, the message says "One or more numbers from 12 to 15 already exist on this line.", with the limits of your range. On mobile, type a **First number** that follows the line's last tag. On the web, do the same in the **First number** field. - "You can't create more than 200 tags at once.": your range goes over the limit. Split it up. - "This line has tags that have already been used: its species and its season can no longer change. Create a new line.": some of the line's tags are no longer available. Keep the line as it is and create one for the other species or season. - "The quota (3) can't be lower than the number of tags already attached or validated (4).": you asked for a quota lower than the tags already attached or validated. Keep a quota at least equal to the second number. On mobile, this refusal appears in the "Unable to make the change" alert. - "I can't remove a tag": only tags marked "Avail." can be deleted. A lost or cancelled tag is set back to "Available" from the mobile app, then deleted. - "I can't see Harvest plan & tags (mobile)": you are missing the "View harvest plans" permission. Ask an administrator or a manager of the hunting ground for it. - "I can't see the Harvest plan & tags tab (web)": you are missing the "View harvest plans", "Manage species" or "Manage horn calls" permission. With only "Manage species" or "Manage horn calls", the tab opens without the quotas or the costs. Ask an administrator or a manager of the hunting ground for the permission. - "I can't see the buttons to add or change a quota": you have "View harvest plans" without "Manage harvest plans". The plan is read-only for you. - "I can't see the season selector": on the web, it is hidden when the window is narrow. Make the browser window bigger. - "I can't close the season": some tags are waiting to be validated or rejected. The list is right under the closing banner. ## See also - [How do I add the hunting ground's plan to a hunt?](article:how-do-i-add-the-hunting-ground-plan-to-a-hunt) - [How do I report game and attach a tag?](article:how-do-i-report-game-and-attach-a-tag) - [How do I validate or reject a tag?](article:how-do-i-validate-or-reject-a-tag) - [The hunting season](article:the-hunting-season)
