How do I join a hunting ground?

You join an existing hunting ground with an invitation link or the hunting ground code. Depending on the case, you get in straight away or your request waits for a manager to approve it. The hunting ground code is given to you by the administrator or a manager of the hunting ground. ## On mobile ### With an invitation link 1. Open the link you received (email, text message, message). The app opens on the "You're invited as …" screen. 2. Tap **Join** followed by the name of the hunting ground. If the membership is immediate, the hunting ground opens. Otherwise, the "Request sent" screen appears. If you aren't signed in, the app shows the sign-in screen first, then opens the invitation. Without the app, the link opens the web page of the invitation, described further down in the "On the web" section. ### With an invitation received in the app An invitation sent to a confirmed address of your account appears at the top of the **Hunting grounds** tab, "Invitation" section ("2 invitations", "3 invitations" depending on how many there are). 1. **Hunting grounds** tab. 2. On the invitation card, tap **Join** followed by the name of the hunting ground. ### With a code 1. **Hunting grounds** tab, tap **Join** at the top of the screen. 2. In the **Join** tab of the sheet, type the code in **Hunting ground code**. 3. Tap **Join**. The sheet closes and the hunting ground appears in your list, awaiting approval. ## On the web ### With an invitation link 1. Open the link you received. It starts with `app.meschasses.com/rejoindre/`. The preview of the hunting ground appears (name, town, photo). 2. If you aren't signed in, create your account or sign in directly on the page. 3. Click **Join** followed by the name of the hunting ground. In sign-in mode, the button is called **Sign in and join**. If the membership is immediate, the message "Welcome to …!" appears and you land on **Hunting grounds**. Otherwise, the "Request sent" screen appears. If you have just created your account, the "Check your mailbox" screen appears. Click the confirmation link you received by email: it brings you back to the hunting ground page. With an invitation to your address, the confirmation is enough to get you into the hunting ground. If the page still shows the invitation, click **Join** followed by the name of the hunting ground: the message "You are already part of …" appears and you land on **Hunting grounds**. ### With a code 1. Click **Hunting grounds** in the menu, then **Join with a code**. 2. In the "Join a hunting ground" window, type the code. 3. Click **Join**. The message "Request sent. Awaiting approval." appears. A banner with **Cancel request** appears in **Hunting grounds** for as long as the request is waiting. ## Immediate membership or request to approve - Invitation sent to your address: you get in straight away, without approval, if that address is a confirmed address of your account (main or added). - Invitation sent to another address: your request waits for a manager to approve it. To get in directly, add and confirm that address on your account. - Invitation link without an address (a link shared with several people): your request waits for a manager to approve it. - Hunting ground code, typed in or received as a link: your request always waits for a manager to approve it. A waiting request is flagged to the hunting ground managers by a "Join request" notification. You are told when it is accepted. You are also told when a manager declines it: the "Join request" notification reads "Your request to join" followed by the name of the hunting ground and "was not accepted.", with no reason given. ## Good to know - The hunting ground code has 6 characters (shown as "K7M-4RD") or 8 for an older code. You can type it in capitals or in lower case, with or without the hyphen. - A link can have a limited number of uses. Once that number is reached, the link is refused. - On mobile, tapping a hunting ground that is waiting doesn't open it: the app answers "Request pending". ### If you are already part of the hunting ground - Link still valid, on mobile: the "You're invited as…" screen appears. Tap **Join** followed by the name of the hunting ground: the hunting ground opens. - Link still valid, on the web: click **Join** followed by the name of the hunting ground. The message "You are already part of…" appears and you land on **Hunting grounds**. - Link refused (expired, revoked or at its maximum number of uses), on mobile: the "Already a member" screen appears. Tap **View my hunting grounds**. - Link refused (expired, revoked or at its maximum number of uses), on the web: the message "You are already part of…" appears and you land on **Hunting grounds**. - With a code: the message starts with "You are already a member". ## Troubleshooting - "Invalid code": the code matches no hunting ground. Check it with the hunting ground manager. - "Too many attempts. Try again in a few minutes.": you typed 10 wrong codes in 15 minutes with your account. During those 15 minutes, even a correct code is refused. Wait, then type the code the manager gave you. - "My pending hunting ground has disappeared from my list": a manager declined your request, and you received the "Join request" notification. Contact the hunting ground manager if you think this is a mistake. - "Your join request is already awaiting approval.": you have already asked to join this hunting ground. Wait for a manager to accept it; you are told when that happens. - "This link does not match any hunting ground.": the link is wrong, or the hunting ground is no longer available. Check the link with the person who sent it to you. - "This invitation has expired.": ask the hunting ground manager for a new link. - "This invitation is no longer valid.": the link was revoked, or it has reached its maximum number of uses. Ask the manager for a new link. - "This link has reached its maximum number of uses.": ask the manager for a new link. - "The invitation could not be loaded. Check your connection and try again in a moment.": the link may well be fine, but the page couldn't read it. Tap or click **Try again**. - "Your access to … is suspended. Contact a hunting ground manager.": a manager has suspended your access. The invitation doesn't lift that suspension. - "This hunting ground no longer accepts new members.": the owner of the hunting ground has asked for their account to be deleted, and the hunting ground is closed to new arrivals. Neither the link nor the code works. There is nothing for you to do: tell a hunting ground manager. - "Member limit reached for this hunting ground (N / M members). Upgrade to a higher plan to add more members.": the hunting ground has reached the number of members in its plan.
