How do I manage dogs?

Last updated
Create a record for each of your dogs and for your contacts' dogs, then say which ones come to each hunt. A record holds the name, the type, the breed, the game hunted, a photo and your notes. ## On mobile ### Add one of your dogs 1. **Account** tab, then **My dogs**. 2. Tap **+** in the top right. 3. Fill in the photo (**Add photo**), the **Name**, the **Type**, the **Breed** and the **Game hunted**, then your **Notes**. 4. Tap **Save**. The types offered: Pointing dog, Scent hound, Flushing dog, Retriever, Blood tracking, Earth dog, Nordic / primitive. ### Edit or delete one of your dogs 1. **Account** tab, then **My dogs**. 2. Tap the dog's record to edit it, change the fields you want, then tap **Save**. 3. To delete the dog, tap the bin icon on its record, then **Delete** in the "Delete this dog" window. Deletion is final. ### Add a contact's dogs 1. **Account** tab, then **Address book**. Open the contact. 2. Tap the pencil icon in the top right. 3. In the "Dogs" section, tap **Add a dog**, fill in the record, then tap **Save**. 4. Tap **Save** at the bottom of the contact's record. Dogs added or removed are only kept at that point. ### Participant: list your dogs for a hunt 1. Open the hunt, tap **Take part**. If you have already replied, tap **Edit** in "My participation". 2. In the "Your dogs" section, set the number with **−** and **+**. 3. Tick the ones that are yours. A borrowed dog can stay unticked. 4. Tap **Confirm my attendance**. ### Organiser: tick a participant's dogs To tick a participant's dogs, you must have created the hunt, be an administrator or manager of the hunting ground, or have the "Edit all events" right. The "Manage participants" right isn't enough. 1. Open the hunt, tap **Manage**, then **Participants**. 2. Tap the participant. 3. In the "Dogs present" section, tap the dogs that come with them. Each tick is saved straight away. Ticking a dog never lowers the participant's dog count: it only goes up if it is below the number of ticked dogs, and a higher number, entered for an unticked borrowed dog, is kept. Unticking a dog lowers that count by one, without taking it below the number of dogs still ticked. ## On the web ### Add one of your dogs 1. Click **My dogs** in the menu, then **Add a dog**. 2. Fill in the **Name**, the **Type**, the **Breed**, the **Game hunted** and your **Notes**, then click **Save**. 3. For the photo, click the pencil icon on the dog's record, then **Add a photo**. ### Edit or delete one of your dogs 1. Click **My dogs** in the menu. 2. On the dog's record, click the pencil icon. The "Edit dog" window opens. 3. Change the fields you want, then click **Save**. 4. To delete the dog, click the bin icon on its record, then **Confirm** in the "Delete this dog" window. Deletion is final. ### Add a contact's dogs 1. Click **Address book** in the menu, then the contact. 2. Click **Edit**. 3. In the "Dogs" section, click **Add a dog**, fill in the record, then click **Save**. 4. Click **Update**. ### Participant: list your dogs for a hunt 1. Open the hunt, click **I'm taking part**. If you have already replied, click **Edit** first. 2. In the "Your dogs" section, set the number, then tick the ones that are yours. 3. Click **Confirm my attendance**. ### Organiser: tick a participant's dogs This is only done in the mobile app. On the web, the participant list only shows the number of dogs announced. ## Good to know - Each participant lists their own dogs when they confirm their attendance. - The "Your dogs" section only appears if the organiser has turned on **Dogs allowed** for the hunt. The number goes from 0 to 9. - If you pick the breed before the type, the type sets itself automatically from the breed. You can change it afterwards. - The **Name** and the breed typed by hand are limited to 100 characters, the **Notes** to 2000. - Deleting a dog also removes it from the hunts where it was listed: the dog count of those participations goes down by one, without dropping below the number of dogs still ticked. - Your dogs and your contacts' dogs stay personal, like your address book. The organiser of a hunt sees the dogs linked to it, not the rest of a registered hunter's address book. ## If something goes wrong - "My breed isn't in the list": choose **Other breed…**, then enter it in **Specify the breed**. - "I can't add a photo to a new dog on the web": the photo is added after creation. Save the dog, then click the pencil icon on its record. - "Photo not saved" (mobile): the message "The dog is saved, but its photo couldn't be sent. Open its record to try again." appears when a new dog's photo couldn't be sent. The dog exists without a photo. Tap its record to add the photo again. - "This dog is registered for a hunt on a suspended hunting ground: it can't be deleted at the moment.": the hunting ground of a hunt where the dog is listed is suspended. Deletion becomes possible again once the suspension is lifted. - "This dog can't be found or you can no longer edit it.": the record has already been deleted, or it doesn't belong to you. Go back to your list of dogs. - "A chosen game no longer exists in the catalogue. Check the game hunted and try again.": change the **Game hunted** on the record, then save again. - "I don't see my dogs when I confirm my attendance": the hunt doesn't allow dogs, or you haven't created any record yet in **My dogs**. - "No dog registered for this contact." (mobile, "Dogs present" section): no dog record is linked to this participant. For a contact from your address book, first add their dogs to their record. A person with an account keeps their dogs in their own account: they list them themselves when they confirm their attendance. ## See also - [How do I use the address book?](article:how-do-i-use-the-address-book) - [How do I manage replies to a hunt?](article:how-do-i-manage-replies-to-a-hunt) - [How do I edit a hunt?](article:how-do-i-edit-a-hunt) - [How do I invite participants?](article:how-do-i-invite-participants)
