The address book is your personal directory of hunters. It lets you quickly invite the same people to your hunts, without re-entering their contact details.
Only you can see it. Don't confuse it with a hunting ground's member address book, which lists the members (membership fees, papers, committee role) and is shared with the committee.
## On mobile
The screen is called "Address book".
### Open the address book
1. **Account** tab, then **Address book**.
Another path: **Hunts** tab, then the **Address book** card. The steps below start from the **Account** tab.
### Add a contact
1. **Account** tab, then **Address book**.
2. Tap **+** in the top right.
3. Tap **Create a contact**.
4. Fill in the record, then tap **Create**.
5. If the person may already exist, the "This person may already exist" sheet shows them to you. Open the existing record, or tap **Create anyway** if it's a namesake.
### Import from your phone
1. **Account** tab, then **Address book**.
2. Tap **+** in the top right.
3. Tap **Import from your phone**.
4. Allow access to your contacts.
5. Tick the people to bring in.
6. Tap **Import**, followed by the number of people ticked.
They arrive with the "Importé" label, with no duplicates against the records already present.
### Find a contact
1. **Account** tab, then **Address book**.
2. Use the "Search by name, licence, label…" bar at the top of the list.
3. Tap a label chip to filter on that label.
### Act on a record
1. **Account** tab, then **Address book**.
2. Tap the contact to open their record.
3. At the top, **Invite**, **Call** and **Email**. **Call** and **Email** are greyed out if the record has no phone or email. The pencil icon opens editing.
4. The share icon offers "Share record", "Call" and "Send an email".
5. At the bottom of the record: **Unlink the account** (if the record is linked to an account), **Merge with another record** and **Delete this contact**.
You can also swipe a line in the list to bring up **Delete**.
### Invite a contact to a hunt
1. **Account** tab, then **Address book**.
2. Tap the contact to open their record.
3. At the top, tap **Invite**. The "Invite to a hunt" sheet opens.
4. Tap **Invite** on the hunt you want. On that hunt, the button is replaced with "Invited".
### Reply to an "Is that you?" request
When someone has added you to their address book, the **Requests** block appears at the top of the address book.
1. **Account** tab, then **Address book**.
2. Read the request.
3. Tap **Yes, that's me** to link the record to your account, or **No**.
From 2 requests on, **Yes, that's me for all of them** accepts them all at once.
### Merge duplicate records
1. **Account** tab, then **Address book**.
2. Open one of the records, then tap **Merge with another record**.
3. In the "Records to merge" section, tick the records that refer to the same person. The likely duplicates are offered first.
4. In the **Record to keep** section, choose the one you keep. A record linked to an account carries the "Account" marker.
5. In the "Differing information" section, choose the right value for each field that contradicts. If several records carry a licence, also choose the **Licence to keep**.
6. Tap **Merge the records**, then confirm.
## On the web
### Add a contact
1. Click **Address book** in the menu.
2. Click **Create a contact**. On an empty address book, the button is called **Add a contact**.
3. Fill in the form: first name, last name, email, phone, weapon, calibre, licence and insurance, dogs, labels, notes, reduced mobility (PRM).
4. Click **Save contact**. On an existing record you are editing, the button is called **Update**.
5. If the person may already exist (same name, same email or same phone), the "This person may already exist" window shows them to you. Open the existing record, or click **Create anyway**.
To add a label, type it then press Enter: a label typed without Enter isn't kept. Labels typed on the web show in capitals. On mobile, a label keeps its case.
### Import a list
1. Click **Address book** in the menu.
2. Click **Import**. The "Import into your address book" window opens. On an empty address book, this button is replaced with the **Import a list from Excel** link, which opens the same window.
3. Paste your contacts, one person per line, in the `Last name;First name;Email;Phone` format. Email and phone are optional. The columns are separated by a semicolon, or by a tab when you paste directly from Excel.
4. Click **Analyse**, check the list, then click **Confirm**.
If the first line carries the column titles (Last name, First name, Email, Phone), it is recognised and the columns can be in another order. Each imported contact receives the "Importé" label.
A line with no last name or no first name, or with an invalid email address, isn't imported. A skipped line appears in the preview under "1 line skipped: correct the text, then analyse again." ("2 lines skipped: …" if there are several), with its number and its reason. Click **Edit the text**, correct it, then click **Analyse** again.
### Find a contact
1. Click **Address book** in the menu.
2. Use the "Search by name, licence or label…" bar at the top of the list.
3. Filter with the **Weapons** and **Licence** lists, or click a label chip ("All · N" puts them all back).
4. Click the **Contact**, **Weapon** or **Licence** header to sort the list.
### Act on a record
1. Click **Address book** in the menu.
2. On the contact's line, open the ⋮ menu: **View record**, **Edit** or **Delete**.
3. In the record, **Edit** is in the top right, **Invite to a hunt** under the name, and **Delete** in the "Delete this contact" area at the bottom.
4. To cut the link with an account, open editing on a linked record, then click **Unlink the account** at the bottom of the window. A confirmation is asked for.
### Invite contacts to a hunt
1. Click **Address book** in the menu.
2. Tick the contacts you want, then click **Invite** in the action bar. The "Invite N contacts" window opens.
3. Choose an upcoming hunt. If there isn't one, the window shows "No upcoming event.".
4. Click **Confirm the addition**.
### Act on several contacts
1. Click **Address book** in the menu.
2. Tick the contacts you want. An action bar appears at the bottom of the screen.
3. It offers **Invite** (opens the "Invite N contacts" window, where you choose the hunt), adding a label, **Merge** (from 2 ticked records on) and **Delete**.
### Reply to an "Is that you?" request
When someone has added you to their address book with your email address, the **Requests** block appears at the top of the page.
1. Click **Address book** in the menu.
2. In the **Requests** block, click **Yes, that's me** to link the record to your account, or **No**.
From 2 requests on, **Yes, that's me for all of them** accepts them all at once.
### Merge duplicate records
1. Click **Address book** in the menu.
2. Tick 2 to 10 records that refer to the same person, then click **Merge**.
3. In the **Record to keep** section, choose the one you keep. By default, it's the record linked to an account.
4. In the "Differing information" section, choose the right value for each field that contradicts. If several records carry a licence, also choose the **Licence to keep**.
5. Click **Merge the records**.
## What a merge does
The hunts, stands, payments, dogs and guests of the other records move to the kept record, then those records are deleted. The records' labels are combined and the notes are joined end to end. The empty fields of the kept record are filled in with those of the other records when no information contradicts. The merge is final.
Two records linked to two different accounts don't merge: they are two people. The screen says so before you confirm.
## Good to know
- A record is only linked to a person's account with their agreement: they get the "Is that you?" question and answer it themselves. If they answer no, the question is no longer put to them for that record. The request goes out when the person has an account whose primary email address, or an additional email address, is confirmed and that address is on the record.
- When a contact's licence carries a validation whose end date isn't certain, the record shows "Validation to check" and the "Valid until" line shows "To check" instead of a date.
- Having someone in your address book gives you no access to their licence.
## If something goes wrong
- "This licence number is already used … in your address book": another record in your address book already carries this licence. Open it rather than creating a new one, or merge the two records.
- "Couldn't merge": on mobile, it's the title of the alert; on the web, the message shows in the merge window. The message gives the cause. The most common cases are below.
- "Two of these records are linked to two different Mes Chasses accounts": they are two separate people. Remove one of the two records from the merge.
- "Two of these records each have a payment in progress for the same hunt": refund or cancel one of the two payments before merging.
- "These records each have a membership fee for the same season": cancel one of the two membership fees before merging.
- "One of these records carries a membership": it can't be merged here. Remove it from the merge.
- "This email address is already used by another record in your address book": choose another address, or also add that record to the merge.
- "This licence is already registered on another record in your address book": add that record to the merge, or keep another licence.
- "One of these records is registered for a hunt on a suspended hunting ground": the merge is impossible while that hunting ground is suspended. Remove that record from the merge.
- "One of these records is no longer in your address book": reload the page, then start again.
- "No contact could be imported. Check your connection and try again.": no record could be created. Check your connection, then try again: on the web, click **Confirm** again; on mobile, tap **Import** again.
- "3 contacts imported, 2 failed. The failed lines stay below: try again." (web): the failed records stay in the preview, the others are created. Click **Confirm** to retry only the failed lines.
- "2 contacts out of 5 couldn't be imported. They stay selected: try again." (mobile): the other records are created, the failed contacts stay ticked. Tap **Import** again. For a single failed contact, the message says "1 contact out of 5 couldn't be imported. It stays selected: try again."
- "Contacts access denied" (mobile): the phone refuses access to your contacts. Allow it in the phone's settings, then reopen **Import from your phone**.
- "My line is skipped on import" (web): the last name or the first name is missing, or the email address isn't valid. The preview gives the reason.
- "I don't see the Merge button on the web": it only appears from 2 ticked records on. The merge accepts 10 records at most at a time.
