You're taking part in a hunt and bringing someone with you? Add your guest from the hunt page: an unarmed guest (they don't hunt) or an armed guest, with or without their licence.
To add a guest, three conditions must be met:
- the organiser has turned on **Guests allowed** for the hunt. This setting is off when a hunt is created: while it stays off, participants can't bring their guests. Organisers can still add anyone;
- you are a member of the hunting ground and you have confirmed your attendance;
- your role on the hunting ground still leaves you some guests. An armed guest is only possible if your role allows it.
## On mobile
### Add a guest
Available from version 4.2.6 of the app.
1. Open the hunt, **Information** tab, "My guests" section.
2. Tap **Add a guest**.
3. The guest is armed by default. If they don't hunt, turn on **Unarmed guest**.
4. Enter at least a first name or a last name, and their phone if you want.
5. Armed guest: add their email if you want.
6. If the meal is offered, turn on **Staying for the meal** for them.
7. Unarmed guest: tap **Add**. That's it.
8. Armed guest: tap **Scan the licence** (photo, image or PDF) or **Enter manually**.
9. After a scan, check the preview then the summary. Tap **Edit** to correct a part.
10. Tap **Add the guest**.
You don't have their papers? At step 8, tap **Add without licence** at the bottom of the sheet (from version 4.2.8 of the app).
If you leave the licence before the end, the app asks for confirmation: the guest isn't added yet and your entry would be lost.
### Edit a guest or remind them about their licence
Available from version 4.2.9 of the app.
1. Open the hunt, **Information** tab, "My guests" section.
2. Tap your guest.
3. Tap **Edit guest** to correct their name, their contact details or their licence, then save.
4. For an armed guest, tap **Remind about the licence** to ask them to complete their licence.
### Switch a guest to armed or unarmed
Their stand, their reply and their meal stay in place.
1. Open the hunt, **Information** tab, "My guests" section.
2. Tap your guest.
3. Tap **Switch to armed guest** or **Switch to unarmed**.
4. A window opens. Depending on the case:
- To armed, for a guest without a Mes Chasses account: tap **Enter the licence**, or **Later** if you don't have their papers. **Later** is available from version 4.2.8 of the app; in an older version, the licence is asked for straight away.
- To armed, for a guest who has a Mes Chasses account: confirm. It's the licence on their account that will be checked.
- To unarmed: confirm.
### Send the meal link to your guest
1. Open the hunt, **Information** tab, "My guests" section.
2. Tap your guest.
3. Tap **Send the meal link**.
### Remove a guest
1. Open the hunt, **Information** tab, "My guests" section.
2. Tap your guest.
3. Tap **Remove the guest**, then **Remove** in the confirmation.
### Organiser: add a guest for a participant
You can do this even when **Guests allowed** is turned off: that setting only limits the guests participants bring themselves. This applies to the hunt's creator, the administrator, a manager, and members with the **Edit all events** permission. A member who only has the **Manage participants** permission stays bound by the setting: while **Guests allowed** is off, **Add a guest** doesn't appear for them.
1. Open the hunt, tap **Manage**, then **Participants**.
2. Tap the participant.
3. Tap **Add a guest**. The "Add a guest" sheet opens.
4. The guest is armed by default. If they don't hunt, turn on **Unarmed guest**.
5. Enter at least a first name or a last name, and their phone if you want.
6. Armed guest: add their email if you want.
7. If the meal is offered, turn on **Staying for the meal** for them.
8. Unarmed guest: tap **Add**. That's it.
9. Armed guest: tap **Scan the licence** or **Enter manually**, then **Add the guest** at the end of the process. Without their papers, tap **Add without licence** (from version 4.2.8 of the app).
### Organiser: change a guest's host
Available from version 4.2.8 of the app.
1. Open the hunt, tap **Manage**, then **Participants**.
2. Tap the guest.
3. On the **Invited by** line, tap **Change**, then choose the hunter inviting them. The chosen hunter must be a member of the hunting ground.
### Organiser: switch a guest to armed or unarmed
The organiser can do it for any guest in the hunt. Their stand, their reply and their meal stay in place.
1. Open the hunt, tap **Manage**, then **Participants**.
2. Tap the guest.
3. Tap **Switch to armed guest** or **Switch to unarmed**.
4. A window opens. Depending on the case:

- To armed, for a guest who has a Mes Chasses account: confirm. It's the licence on their account that will be checked.
- To unarmed: confirm.

### Organiser: edit a guest's record
1. Open the hunt, **Participants** tab.
2. Open the guest, then click **Edit**.
3. The form that opens depends on where the guest's record is stored:
- The record is in your address book: the full address book form opens.
- The record is in the hunting ground's address book: the administrator and the manager open the member form. The other organisers can only view it.
- The record is neither in your address book nor in the hunting ground's, and the guest has no Mes Chasses account: a reduced form opens. You change the name, the contact details, the weapon, the calibre and reduced mobility, but not the licence.
- The record is neither in your address book nor in the hunting ground's, and the guest has a Mes Chasses account: a reduced form opens. You change only the weapon, the calibre and reduced mobility.
## An armed guest's papers
Nothing is required: you can add an armed guest without a licence, or with part of their papers. What you fill in must be complete:
- as soon as any licence detail is entered, its number is asked for;
- a validation that has been started asks for its scope, its duration, its dates and its validation number (the IDGU isn't accepted in its place); for an annual departmental validation, at least one department is also required;
- an insurance that has been added asks for its certificate number, the insurer stays optional.
A block left empty is ignored. The IDGU is read by the scan, it isn't entered by hand. An insurance entered by hand is valid until the end of the current season, on 30 June.
What's missing shows in the hunt's licence check ("Missing", "No insur.", "No FR valid."). The organiser sees it before the hunt. An unarmed guest has no papers to provide.
## The link to keep their licence
If you enter the email of an armed guest who has no Mes Chasses account, they receive an email to create their account and keep this licence. The link goes out as soon as you add them if the hunt is published, otherwise when it is published. It also goes out when you switch a guest from unarmed to armed. A guest only receives it once.
On the link's page, "Your licence is ready" appears. Your guest chooses **Create my account** or **I already have an account**.
## Good to know
- Your guest appears in the participant list, under your name.
- A red triangle next to your guest, in "My guests", means our emails aren't reaching them. You correct their address from this triangle, and the email goes out again on its own when needed. The triangle shows on the web and in the mobile app. Available from version 5.0.2 of the app. In version 5.0.1 or an older version, no triangle shows on mobile: go through the web. The steps are in [How do I manage replies to a hunt?](article:how-do-i-manage-replies-to-a-hunt), "Hunter: correct the address of one of your guests" section.
- Their record is stored in your address book. If your guest has a Mes Chasses account, you don't correct their name, their contact details or their licence: they manage them themselves.
- For a guest who has a Mes Chasses account, on mobile, you keep control of their weapon, their labels, their notes and reduced mobility.
- For a guest who has a Mes Chasses account, on the web, you keep control of their weapon, their calibre, their labels, their notes and reduced mobility.
- The licence reminder goes out in your name: an email with a link to complete their licence without an account, or a notification and an email if they have an account. One reminder a day at most, up to the end of the day after the hunt, and nothing at all once the hunt is cancelled. If their licence is already in order, nothing goes out.
- The meal link lets your guest pay for their meal themselves, by the methods the organiser accepts. The meal must be offered and the guest must have an email. The button disappears once their meal is booked or the deadline has passed.
- After the meal deadline, the **Staying for the meal** box for your guests can no longer be changed. The organiser, though, can still change it.
- Changing the host: the organiser chooses from the hunt's participants. The chosen person must be a member of the hunting ground, otherwise the app refuses. The guest's meal that isn't paid for yet moves to the new host; a meal already paid for doesn't change. "Added by", on the detailed record, keeps track of who made the registration.
- A guest added by the organisation without being assigned to a participant shows "No host" in place of the host's name, on the "Invited by" row (mobile) and in the participant list (web). They aren't on any participant's quota, and don't appear in anyone's "My guests". The organiser picks a host for them the same way as for any other guest. The steps for adding one are in [How do I invite participants?](article:how-do-i-invite-participants).
## If something goes wrong
- "The Add a guest button doesn't appear": you haven't confirmed your attendance, the organiser hasn't turned on guests, or your role doesn't allow any.
- "I manage the participants but I don't see Add a guest on a participant's record": you have the **Manage participants** permission without being able to edit the hunt, and **Guests allowed** is off. Ask the organiser to turn it on, or to add the guest themselves.
- "The Add a guest button is greyed out": the counter, for example (2/2), shows that you have reached the number of guests allowed by your role.
- "I can't choose an armed guest": your role only allows unarmed guests. "Your role only allows unarmed guests." shows under the choice.
- "Add the guest shows errors": a licence detail has been started but is incomplete. Complete it, or clear the block.
- "Switch to armed guest doesn't appear": your role only allows unarmed guests, or the organiser has turned off guests for the hunt.
- "This guest was added by the organiser": their record is in the organiser's address book, it's the organiser who fills in their licence. You can still switch the guest to armed with **Later**.
- "This record was created by the person who added your guest": the organiser added them for you. Ask them to edit it.
- "Remind about the licence doesn't appear": the guest is unarmed, the hunt is cancelled, or the day after the hunt has passed.
- "Email missing" after a reminder: your guest has neither an account nor an email. Add their email with **Edit guest**, then send the reminder again.
- "Already reminded": they received a reminder less than 24 hours ago, from you or from the organiser.
- "Only members of the hunting ground can bring guests" when changing the host: the chosen person isn't a member of the hunting ground. Choose a member.
- "Send the meal link doesn't appear": the meal isn't offered, the guest has no email, their meal is already booked, or the deadline has passed.
- "Sending the meal link fails": the hunt's meal is free, there's no payment to ask for and so nothing to send. The app shows a general sending error.
- "I can't correct my guest's address": the "Correct the email address" window offers no field when the guest has a Mes Chasses account, because they alone change their address, in their profile. For a record that isn't in your address book, it tells you to ask the organiser. When the message is "Address corrected. No email to resend for this hunt.", the address is saved and nothing is resent.
- "My guest didn't receive the email to keep their licence": check their email, that they don't already have an account and that the hunt is published. The link is only sent once.
- "My guest's link shows Link expired or already used": if they have already created their account, their licence is probably saved there. They sign in.
