Getting started: from account creation to your first hunt

Last updated
This guide takes you from an empty account to your first organised hunt, in six steps to follow in order: some lay the groundwork for the next ones. Each step links to the article that covers it in detail. ## 1. Create an account Sign up with an email address, with Google, or with Apple. Apple is offered in the app on iPhone and iPad, and on the web. It isn't offered in the Android app. With an email address, click the confirmation link you receive: until the address is confirmed, sign-in is refused. With Google or Apple, no confirmation is needed. See [How do I create an account?](article:how-do-i-create-an-account) ## 2. Complete your profile On first sign-in, Mes Chasses welcomes you with a few questions. They differ depending on where you sign in. ### On mobile A single screen asks you: - your name, if it isn't already known; - your phone number and your licence, both optional; - how you heard of Mes Chasses. The mobile app doesn't ask whether you are a hunter or an organiser. ### On the web The screens follow this order: 1. How you heard of Mes Chasses. 2. Your name and your phone number, on the same screen. If your name is already known, for example after signing up with Google or Apple, this screen is skipped and the phone number isn't asked. 3. Your licence. 4. The "How will you use Mes Chasses?" screen: choose **Hunter** or **Organiser**. With **Organiser**, two more screens follow: creating your first hunting ground, then "Your needs", where you say why you need Mes Chasses (you can skip it). With **Hunter**, these two screens are skipped. A "Summary" screen ends the path. See [How do I complete my profile? (welcome path)](article:how-do-i-complete-my-profile-welcome-flow) ## 3. Create a hunting ground The hunting ground is where everything is organised: members, maps, hunts and finances are all attached to it. You become its administrator. If you filled in the "Hunting ground" step of the welcome on the web, it is already created. See [How do I create a hunting ground?](article:how-do-i-create-a-hunting-ground) ## 4. Invite members Bring your hunters into the hunting ground with the invitation code, or with a link. People without an account can also be added to the hunting ground's member list to appear in your hunts. ### On mobile 1. **Hunting grounds** tab, open your hunting ground, then tap **Members**. 2. The "Invitation code" card is at the top of the page. Tap it to copy the code, or tap **Share** to send the link. ### On the web 1. **Hunting grounds** menu, open your hunting ground, then the **Members** tab. 2. Click **Add**, under "Invite to Mes Chasses". 3. Click **Share the access code** to send the code or the link, or **Invite by email** to invite specific addresses. See [How do I invite members?](article:how-do-i-invite-members) ## 5. Create a map and place stands Draw your hunting ground: zones, stands, water points. Your hunts will use them on the day. See [How do I create a map?](article:how-do-i-create-a-map) and [How do I place stands?](article:how-do-i-place-stands) ## 6. Organise your first hunt Choose the date, the hunt type and the weapons, then invite the participants. On the day, launch the live hunt from the mobile app. See [How do I create a hunt?](article:how-do-i-create-a-hunt), [How do I invite participants?](article:how-do-i-invite-participants) and [How do I launch a live hunt?](article:how-do-i-start-a-live-hunt) ## Try without a hunting ground: the impromptu hunt To try things out straight away, launch an impromptu hunt from the mobile app, without a hunting ground: 1. Tap the central **Start** button on the bottom bar. 2. Tap **Start now**. 3. Choose the hunt type, then tap **Start now**. The impromptu hunt is only launched from the mobile app. ## Good to know - You still need a hunting ground for regular hunts with a harvest plan, attendance sheet and online payments. - Your harvest log is personal: it doesn't depend on any hunting ground. - A hunting ground starts on the Discovery plan, free, limited to 2 members and 1 hunt per month. ## See also - [How do I create an impromptu hunt?](article:how-do-i-create-an-immediate-hunt) - [Roles and permissions](article:roles-and-permissions) - [Draft and published: a hunt's status](article:draft-and-published-a-hunts-status) - [Plans and quotas](article:plans-and-quotas)
