Roles and permissions

Last updated
Four roles exist on a hunting ground, from the broadest to the most restricted. Knowing who can do what explains most cases where a button doesn't appear or an action is refused. ## The four roles | Role | What they can do | |---|---| | Administrator | Everything: members, maps, hunts, finances, subscription, permissions. They alone can delete the hunting ground, manage the subscription and transfer administration. | | Manager | Everything, except delete the hunting ground, manage the subscription, transfer administration and change the hunting ground's IBAN. | | Syndicate member | What the administrator or a manager grants them. By default: see the hunting ground's info, the team, the stands, the harvest plan and all hunts; create hunts, take part and invite outside guests. | | Member | What the administrator or a manager grants them. By default: see the hunting ground's info, the stands and all hunts, and take part in them. | The administrator and the manager always keep all their permissions: they can't be unticked. Only the Syndicate member and Member roles are set permission by permission. ## Who sets permissions Only the administrator and the managers set the roles' permissions. This right can't be delegated. Inviting members is set separately, with the **Invite members** permission. A member can never raise their own rights. A person's role is changed from their record in the member list, by the administrator or a manager. The administrator's role isn't changed this way: it goes through an administration transfer. ## Set permissions on mobile 1. **Hunting grounds** tab, open the hunting ground. 2. Under "Administration", tap **Permissions**. 3. Choose the role, tick or untick the permissions, then tap **Save changes**. ## Set permissions on the web 1. **Hunting grounds** menu, open the hunting ground. 2. **Members** tab, then the **Access levels** sub-tab. 3. Tick or untick the boxes in the Syndicate member and Member columns, then click **Save**. The details of the permissions and the setup screens are in [How do I understand roles and permissions?](article:how-do-i-understand-roles-and-permissions) ## Good to know - Changing the IBAN can be given to a syndicate member or a member through the **Manage the treasury** permission. The manager can't receive it. - The creator of a hunt can edit it, whatever their role. Editing other people's hunts requires the **Edit all events** permission. - The creator of a hunt can also delete it, whatever their role, including for an impromptu hunt. Deleting other people's hunts is reserved for the administrator, the managers and the roles that have **Delete all events**. ## Troubleshooting - "I don't see Permissions or Access levels": only the administrator and the managers have access. - "A member is missing a button": the corresponding permission isn't turned on for their role. Ask the administrator or a manager to turn it on. - "I don't see the Subscription section": it is reserved for the administrator. ## See also - [How do I understand roles and permissions?](article:how-do-i-understand-roles-and-permissions) - [How do I invite members?](article:how-do-i-invite-members) - [How do I transfer administration?](article:how-do-i-transfer-the-administration) - [Member, participant, guest without an account](article:member-participant-guest-without-an-account)
