How do I create drives for my hunting ground?

Last updated
A drive is a group of stands you reuse at every driven hunt: Bois Noir, la Plaine, le Ravin. You prepare it once, with its stands in order, its map and its instructions, then choose it on the day you organise a hunt. To view drives on a hunting ground, you need the "View stands" permission. To create, edit, archive or delete them, you need the "Manage stands" permission. **Watch the video: drives on the map (2 min 35, in French)** https://youtu.be/rClMTfdK36Q ## On mobile Available from version 4.2.5 of the app. ### Create a drive 1. Open the hunting ground, "Hunting ground" group, then **Drives**. 2. Tap the plus button at the top of the screen. 3. Fill in the **Drive name**. Choose a **Map** and enter **Instructions** if you wish. 4. In the **Drive stands** section, tap **Add stands**. The "Hunting ground stands" sheet opens: tick the stands you want. Each stand you tick is added to the end of the list. 5. To change the order, hold a stand's handle and drag it. 6. To give a stand a name in the drive, tap **Edit** on its row, enter the **Name in the drive**, then tap **Save**. If you close the sheet without tapping **Save**, the name you entered is lost. 7. To remove a stand from the drive, tap **Edit** on its row, then **Remove from the drive**. 8. Tap **Create drive**. The **Number 1, 2, 3** and **Number A, B, C** buttons name all the stands at once, in drive order. ### Edit, archive or delete a drive 1. Open the hunting ground, then **Drives**. 2. The "Active" and "Archived" tabs each show their count of drives. 3. Tap a drive's name to edit it, then **Save**. 4. To archive or delete it, tap the **···** menu on its row, then **Archive** (or **Reactivate**) or **Delete**. ### Create a drive from a map 1. Open a map of the hunting ground. 2. A banner at the top names the active drives that use this map. Tap a name to open the drive. 3. Tap **Create a drive from this map**. The editor opens with this map and its stands already ticked. ## On the web ### Create a drive 1. Click **Hunting grounds** in the menu, then your hunting ground. 2. "Hunting ground" group, click the **Drives** tab. 3. Click **New drive**. 4. Fill in the **Drive name**. Choose a **Map** and enter **Instructions** if you wish. 5. On the map, click a stand to add it to the drive or remove it. It appears in the list on the right. 6. In the list, drag a stand by its handle to change the order (the up and down arrows do the same). Enter its name in the drive in the **Name in the drive** field. The cross removes it. 7. Click **Save**. The **Number 1, 2, 3** and **Number A, B, C** buttons, above the list, name all the stands at once. If names are already entered, Mes Chasses asks "Number the stands?" before replacing them. ### Edit, archive or delete a drive 1. Open the hunting ground, **Drives** tab. 2. The "Active" and "Archived" tabs each show their count of drives. 3. On the drive's row, click **Edit**, **Archive** (or **Reactivate**), or **Delete**. ### Create a drive from a map 1. Open a hunting ground map in the editor. 2. In the left dock, click **Drive**, just above **Stands**. 3. The "This map's drives" panel lists the active drives that use it. Click one to edit it, or click **New drive**. 4. Click the stands on the map to build the drive, then click **Save**. ## What a drive contains - A name of up to 60 characters, not already used by another drive on the same hunting ground (case doesn't matter). - Stands from the hunting ground, arranged in the order you want to go through them. - For each stand, a name specific to the drive: optional, up to 20 characters, different from other stands in the same drive. - A map, optional, chosen from the hunting ground's maps. - Instructions, optional: the direction of the drive, prohibited shots, safety rules. - Shooting lines, optional. See [How do I place shooting lines?](article:how-do-i-place-shooting-lines). The name in the drive solves a common problem: the same stand often has a different number depending on the drive. The stand Chêne du bas shows as "Stand 3 · Chêne du bas" in one drive and "Stand 12 · Chêne du bas" in another. ## Good to know - A map belonging to a hunt is never offered as the map for a hunting ground drive. - The name of an archived drive remains taken: you can't reuse it for another. - An archived drive is no longer offered for new hunts. You can still edit it, and reactivate it whenever you want. - Deleting asks for confirmation: "Delete this drive?". Hunts that already use it keep their copy. - Editing or reactivating a drive that upcoming hunts already use prompts a question. It is explained in [What happens when I edit a drive that's already in use?](article:what-happens-when-i-edit-a-drive-already-in-use). - Only stands with GPS coordinates appear on the editor map. A deactivated stand isn't offered unless it is already in the drive. - A drive created from a map starts with that map's stands already ticked, in natural name order: only those that are active, have coordinates and are visible on that map. - When you delete a stand from the hunting ground, the deletion screen says which drives it is in, for example "This stand is used in the drive 'Bois Noir': it will be removed." - From a hunt, **Save as a hunting ground drive** adds a day's drive to the library, even for a past hunt. See [How do I organise the drives of a hunt?](article:how-do-i-organise-the-drives-of-a-hunt). ## If something goes wrong - "Enter a drive name.": the name is required. - "A drive on this hunting ground already has this name": choose another name, even if the other drive is archived. - "Fix the stand names in red before saving.": two stands have the same name in the drive. The screen specifies which one, for example "Two stands are called '3' in this drive." - "This map cannot be the basis for a hunting ground drive. The new drive opens without a map or stands.": the map belongs to a hunt or another hunting ground. - "The list of drives could not be loaded.": check your connection, then use **Try again**. - "I don't see New drive, or the plus button on mobile": you are missing the "Manage stands" permission. In a map's panel, the message "Only those who manage stands can edit drives." says the same thing. Without the "View stands" permission, the **Drives** tab doesn't appear at all. ## See also - [How do I organise the drives of a hunt?](article:how-do-i-organise-the-drives-of-a-hunt) - [How do I place stands?](article:how-do-i-place-stands) - [How do I create a map?](article:how-do-i-create-a-map) - [How do I place shooting lines?](article:how-do-i-place-shooting-lines)
