Projection mode displays a map full-size, with no tools, so you can show it to the group on a TV or projector before the driven hunt. You can hide anything that clutters the screen with a tap: stands, zones, texts.
You only need to be able to open the map. Permission to edit it isn't required.
## On mobile
Available from version 4.2.8 of the app.
1. Open the map: a hunting ground map, a hunt map or a drive map.
2. In the top bar, to the right of the title, tap the projector icon.
3. Set what the map should show with the large buttons, then tap the round button with double chevrons, at the top right ("Collapse"), to leave only the map.
4. To exit, tap the cross, at the top right ("Exit"). Android's back button does the same.
The projector icon disappears while a gesture is in progress on the map: a drawing, a zone merge, moving a stand, placing the meeting point. Finish it first.
## On the web
### Open projection
1. Open the map.
2. In the header, to the right of the title, click the projector icon, whose tooltip is "Project the map onto a screen".
3. If the window is less than 768 px wide, the icon is in the **⋮** menu: open that menu and click **Project**.
### Collapse and exit on a large screen
A large screen is a window at least 768 px wide and 672 px tall, like a computer or tablet. A phone in landscape is still a small screen.
1. Set what the map should show with the large buttons.
2. To leave only the map, click **Collapse**, in the right column.
3. To exit, click **Exit**, in the right column. The Escape key does the same: if the browser is fullscreen, one press exits fullscreen and a second closes projection.
### Collapse and exit on a small screen
1. Set what the map should show with the large buttons.
2. To leave only the map, click the round button with double chevrons, at the top right: its tooltip is "Collapse".
3. To exit, click the round cross at the top right: its tooltip is "Exit". The Escape key does the same: if the browser is fullscreen, one press exits fullscreen and a second closes projection.
## Projection buttons
The projection screen shows the map, its name at the top left and a row of large buttons. A green button is shown on the map, a white one is hidden. Each tap toggles the state, as many times as you like.
- **Stands**: the stands, their names and their shooting sectors.
- **Zones**: the zones and circles, with their areas.
- **Points of interest**: points of interest, the meeting point and harvests shown on the map.
- **Texts and names**: texts placed on the map and zone names.
- **Lines and arrows**: lines and arrows.
- **Satellite** or **IGN map**: the button bears the name of the displayed base layer, a tap switches to the other. Initially, it is the base layer the map was showing.
- **Collapse**: hides all the buttons. A small settings icon stays at the top right: tap it on mobile, click it on the web, to bring them back. Its name is "Show the buttons": this is its tooltip on hover on the web.
- **Exit**: closes projection.
On a drive map, hiding **Stands** also hides the dots, the names of placed hunters, the shooting lines and the legend.
The cadastre, scale and north remain as on the map. Projection only controls the base layer and these five families.
## Connect to a TV or projector
With a phone, use an HDMI adapter or the TV's screen mirroring. The TV shows exactly what you see on the phone, buttons included. Set the map first, then tap the double-chevron button ("Collapse"). Once projection has started, you can turn the phone to landscape: the map adapts to the TV screen. The screen stays on while projection lasts, and sleep resumes when you exit.
With a computer, plug it into the projector with duplicated screens, then start projection. The map goes fullscreen in the browser, and the screen stays on if the browser allows it. On an iPhone, the browser has no fullscreen mode: the map still fills the whole window.
## What projection doesn't change
Nothing is saved. Settings changed during projection disappear when you exit, and no one else is affected: members, participants and the shared map see the usual map.
What the map author hid stays hidden. A stand hidden on this map never reappears in projection: projection can only hide elements, not show hidden ones.
The map is locked. Tapping a stand or zone opens nothing, and nothing moves or can be edited. You can show it without risking moving a stand with a stray finger.
The button doesn't appear on the live map, nor on a map opened via a public link.
The information on the map, including positions and shooting sectors, is for information only. The decision to shoot remains the shooter's.
## Troubleshooting
- "I don't see the projector icon on mobile": your app is earlier than version 4.2.8, or a gesture is in progress on the map. Finish it.
- "The screen doesn't rotate": check that rotation lock on your phone is disabled.
- "A stand is missing": it is hidden on the map itself, or it has no GPS position. See [How do I place stands?](article:how-do-i-place-stands).
- "I hid elements and can't find them": tap the relevant button again, or exit and restart projection to show everything afresh.
