How do I edit a hunt?

Last updated
Correct a hunt's details after the fact: photo, title, type, date and time, dogs. That way, participants have the right information in front of them. You must be able to edit the hunt: be its creator, be the administrator or a manager of the hunting ground, or hold the **Edit all events** permission. ## On mobile 1. Open the hunt, then tap **Manage**. 2. In the "Settings" section, tap **Information**. 3. Change what needs changing: **Cover photo**, **Title**, **Hunt type**, **Date and time**, **Dogs allowed**. 4. To move a published hunt back to draft, turn off the **Publish the event** switch, in the "Visibility" section. 5. Tap **Save**. The title is required on this screen: if it is empty, the save is refused. For a hunt still in draft, the **Publish the event** switch doesn't appear in **Information**. ### Change the meeting point or the guests allowed 1. Open the hunt, then tap **Manage**. 2. In the "Participants" section, tap **Meeting point** or **Guests allowed**. ### Change the authorised weapons or the hunt leader 1. Open the hunt, then tap **Manage**. 2. In the "Safety & communication" section, tap **Authorised weapons** or **Hunt leader**. ### Open or close registrations 1. Open the hunt, then tap **Manage**. 2. At the top of the screen, turn the **Registration open** switch on or off. ### Publish a draft 1. Open the hunt, then tap **Manage**. 2. At the top of the screen, turn on the **Publish the event** switch. It only appears while the hunt is a draft. ### The Manage screen It is split into four sections: - "Participants": **Participants**, **Meal**, **Payments**, **Guests allowed**, **Licence compliance**, **Meeting point**. - "Map & hunting ground": **Map**, **Hunter placement**, **Harvest plan & tags**, **Documents**. - "Safety & communication": **Hunt leader**, **Authorised weapons**, **Radios**, **Teams & hound handlers**, **Horn calls**, **Safety instructions**. - "Settings": **Information**, **Blood tracking**, **Summary & printing**. For an immediate hunt (no hunting ground), only these entries remain: **Participants**, **Meal**, **Guests allowed**, **Licence compliance**, **Meeting point**, **Documents**, **Authorised weapons**, **Radios**, **Information**, **Blood tracking** and **Summary & printing**. At the top, numbers summarise the hunt: confirmed, to remind, placed and collected. The last two only appear for a hunt linked to a hunting ground. The switch card disappears when the hunt is cancelled. The ⋯ menu at the top right offers **History**, **Duplicate the hunt** (for a hunting ground hunt, if you can create a hunt there), **Cancel the event** (while the hunt isn't cancelled) and **Delete the event** (only if you have the right to delete the hunt). ### Duplicate the hunt 1. Open the hunt, then tap **Manage**. 2. Tap the "⋯" menu at the top right, then **Duplicate the hunt**. 3. In the "Duplicate the hunt" sheet, pick the **Date of the new hunt** and the **Meeting time**. The suggested date is the same day of the week as the original hunt, no earlier than tomorrow. A past date can't be chosen. The sheet points out that the copy counts towards the hunting ground's monthly hunt number, even as a draft. 4. Tap **Create the copy**. 5. The message "Copy created as a draft. Review it, then publish to notify the hunters." appears and the copy opens. ## On the web 1. Click **Hunting grounds** in the menu, open your hunting ground, then the **Hunts** section and the hunt. 2. In the left menu, click **Settings**. 3. Change what needs changing: **Cover photo**, **Event title**, **Date**, **Meeting time**, **Hunt type**, **Authorised weapons**, **Dogs allowed** and **Meeting point**. **Reset (inherit from the hunting ground)** goes back to the hunting ground's meeting point. 4. Click **Save changes**. ### The settings with their own section Guests, meal, payments and radio frequencies are set in **Guests allowed**, **Meal**, **Payments** and **Radio frequencies**. ### Find the status, registrations and invitation link 1. Click **Hunting grounds** in the menu, open your hunting ground, then the **Hunts** section and the hunt. 2. In the left menu, click **Info & registration**. The "Control" card brings together: - the status, with **Publish the event** for a draft and **Draft** to move a published hunt back to draft; - the registrations switch; - the hunt leader and the meeting point, each with its **Change** button; - the invitation link; - the "Duplicate the hunt" row, with the **Duplicate** button, which only appears if you can create a hunt on the hunting ground. ### Duplicate the hunt 1. Click **Hunting grounds** in the menu, open your hunting ground, then the **Hunts** section and the hunt. 2. In the left menu, click **Info & registration**. 3. In the "Control" card, "Duplicate the hunt" row, click **Duplicate**. 4. In the "Duplicate the hunt" window, fill in the **Date of the new hunt** and the **Meeting time**. The window points out that the copy counts towards the hunting ground's monthly hunt number, even as a draft. 5. Click **Create the copy**. The copy is created as a draft. The date field doesn't accept a past day. Today's date is still accepted. ## Who gets notified - A change of date, time or title notifies confirmed or pending participants. Those with an account get a notification, those without an account get an email. The person making the change isn't notified. - Only one notice goes out per save. If you change the date and the time at the same time, the date change is the one announced. - If the hunt is a draft or cancelled, the change notifies no one. - Other changes to the details trigger nothing. - Publishing a draft hunt for the first time notifies the hunting ground members, unless the hunt's start (date and time) is already in the past: in that case nobody is notified. Republishing a hunt that was published then moved back to draft doesn't notify them a second time; its registered hunters are notified if the date, time or title changed while it was a draft. See [Draft and published: a hunt's status](article:draft-and-published-a-hunts-status). ## Good to know - Closing registrations blocks any new answer. - **Authorised weapons**: a hunt saved with no weapon ticked imposes no restriction. Every weapon is offered to participants. - On mobile, the **Authorised weapons** sheet refuses an empty list: "Tick at least one authorised weapon." appears. - On the web, a hunt without a list saves as it is while you don't touch the boxes. If you untick all weapons, "Tick at least one authorised weapon." appears. - On the Discovery plan, one hunt per month: moving a hunt into a month that already has its hunt is refused. A cancelled hunt doesn't count. Changing the day within the same month is still possible. - Moving a hunt into another season (the season runs from 1 July to 30 June) carries over its harvest plan targets: they are linked to the matching line of the new season's plan, or counted outside the plan if the hunting ground has no line for that species. - If a tag is already attached to a harvest from the hunt, this season change is refused. Remove the tags first, then change the date: see [How do I report game and attach a tag?](article:how-do-i-report-game-and-attach-a-tag). An unattached tag blocks nothing. - **Duplicate the hunt** creates a draft copy on another date. It carries over the time, meeting point, weapons, instructions, guests and meal, prices, plan targets, cover photo, radio channels and horn calls. It also carries over the hunt leader, if they are still an active member of the hunting ground. Otherwise, the leader becomes the organiser doing the duplication. - The copy carries over neither the team, nor the maps specific to the hunt (the map images), nor the registrants, nor the placements. - The copy counts towards the hunting ground's monthly hunt number, even as a draft. On Discovery, a copy in a month that already has its hunt is refused. Publishing a draft doesn't free a slot: to free one, delete a draft from that month or move it to another month. ## Troubleshooting - "Tick at least one authorised weapon." (mobile): you are saving a hunt with no weapon ticked. Tick at least one weapon, then save. - "Tick at least one authorised weapon." (web): you unticked all weapons. Tick at least one weapon, then save. - "I don't see Manage" (mobile): you don't have the right to edit this hunt. - "I don't see Settings" (web): you don't have the right to edit this hunt. - "In Manage, I only see the placement" (mobile): you hold the hunter placement delegation only, which doesn't give access to the hunt settings. - "Tags are attached to harvests from this hunt: remove them before moving it to another season or another hunting ground.": the new date falls in another season and tags are attached to the hunt's harvests. Remove them, then save again. - "I can't pick yesterday's date for the copy": the copy is created today or later, a past date is refused. Pick today or a future day. - "Hunt limit reached for this hunting ground in …" while creating the copy: the chosen month already has the maximum number of hunts for the plan, drafts included. The message ends with "Drafts count too: delete one or move it to another month to free a slot." Pick a date in another month, delete a draft from this month, or switch to a higher plan. - "I want to change the hunting ground": not possible, the hunting ground is fixed at creation. ## See also - [How do I create a hunt?](article:how-do-i-create-a-hunt) - [How do I cancel or delete a hunt?](article:how-do-i-cancel-or-delete-a-hunt) - [Draft and published: a hunt's status](article:draft-and-published-a-hunts-status) - [The hunting season](article:the-hunting-season)
