How do I follow the hunt from the iPhone lock screen?

Last updated
During a live hunt, the iPhone shows a card on the lock screen. You can see where the hunt stands without unlocking your phone or opening the app: is the hunt in progress or paused, what was the last report, how many tags have been used, will it rain in the next hour. ## Who gets it Participants who have a Mes Chasses account and whose attendance is confirmed, or who are marked present. The organiser gets it too if they are registered for the hunt. You need an iPhone on iOS 16.4 or later. The card doesn't exist on Android (see below). ## When it appears On iOS 17.2 or later, the card shows up on its own as soon as the organiser starts the hunt, with the alert "The hunt has started". You don't need to open anything. On iOS 16.4 to 17.1, it appears when you open the hunt's live screen. Once it is showing, it stays there even if you leave that screen. Tap the card to go straight to the live screen. ## What it shows - At the top, the name of the hunt and an **IN PROGRESS** (green) or **PAUSED** (orange) badge. - The hunt's latest report: the species, "Seen", "Harvested", "Wounded" or "Missed", and the time since. This line only appears after the first report. - The harvest plan tags, by species, with the count used out of planned (for example 1/4). This line only appears if the hunt has planned tags. - The weather: "Rain in 20 min", "Rain now" or "No rain in the next hour", with the temperature and the wind. When rain is coming within the hour, four bars show its intensity quarter of an hour by quarter of an hour. The weather is worked out where you are in the hunt (your last shared position), or else at the meeting point. It refreshes every 15 minutes. A new report or a used tag reaches the card within a few seconds. The card never shows a hunter's name, a stand or a position: it sits on a lock screen anyone can see. On iPhones with a Dynamic Island, the same information appears there in short: the latest report on one side, the tags on the other. A long press opens it in full. ## Alerts Three moments make the phone ring, with the usual iOS sound: - "The hunt has started"; - "Hunt paused"; - "Hunt resumed". Everything else (reports, tags, weather) updates silently. That's on purpose: nobody wants a phone ringing at their stand for every report. ## When it disappears - At the end of the hunt, the card clears straight away. - You can remove it yourself by swiping it away on the lock screen. That phone then stops getting updates. To bring it back, open the hunt's live screen again. - It also disappears if you sign out of the app. - iOS limits how long these cards last: after about 8 hours, it removes the card by itself. Open the live screen again if the hunt is still going. ## Turning it on or off There is no setting in Mes Chasses. It all happens in iOS: 1. Open **Settings** on the iPhone. 2. Scroll down to **Mes Chasses**. 3. Turn **Live Activities** on or off. When it is off, the card no longer appears. The rest of the live hunt works as usual in the app. ## On Android There is no lock screen card. While the live screen is open, a fixed notification shows the state of the hunt: "Driven hunt in progress", "Driven hunt paused", then "Driven hunt ended". It closes when you leave the live screen. ## If something goes wrong - "The card doesn't appear": check in **Settings** > **Mes Chasses** that **Live Activities** is on, and that your attendance at the hunt is confirmed. On iOS 16.4 to 17.1, open the hunt's live screen. - "The card isn't changing": with no signal, it keeps its last state and only the time since the report keeps counting. It picks up again as soon as the signal comes back. If it stays frozen while you have signal, open the app once. - "I don't get the weather": it needs your position in the hunt or a meeting point. Without either, the weather line doesn't appear. ## See also - [How do I start a live hunt?](article:how-do-i-start-a-live-hunt) - [How do I report game and use a tag?](article:how-do-i-report-game-and-attach-a-tag) - [How do I see dead zones (no signal) on a map?](article:how-do-i-see-dead-zones-no-signal-on-a-map)
