How do I report game and attach a tag?

Last updated
During the live hunt, report an animal seen, harvested, wounded or missed, then attach the tag to a harvest. These reports feed the harvest record and the harvest plan. To report, you must take part in the hunt (attendance confirmed or marked present) or be able to run it. To attach or remove a tag, you need one of these rights or the permission to manage the hunting ground's harvest plan. Simply being a member of the hunting ground isn't enough. ## On mobile ### Reporting an animal at your GPS position 1. On the live map, tap the green **+** button. The "Report" sheet opens. 2. Choose the status: SEEN, HARVESTED, WOUNDED or MISSED. 3. Choose the **Game** (the species, or "Other species…"). 4. If the hunting ground has a harvest plan for this species, choose the **Tag type**: a plan line or "Outside the plan". For a HARVESTED report, this choice is required. 5. If the sheet shows **Category**, choose one. For a HARVESTED report, this choice is required. 6. Adjust the **Number** (1 to 50) and the **Drive** (the current one by default) if needed. 7. Tap **Use my GPS position** to save the report at your position. This button only appears if the app has your GPS position. A marker appears on the map, visible to participants. ### Placing the point elsewhere on the map 1. On the live map, tap the green **+** button. The "Report" sheet opens. 2. Fill in the status, the **Game**, the **Tag type** and the **Category** if the sheet offers them, then the **Number** and the **Drive**. 3. Tap **Choose on the map**. Without a GPS position, this button is called **Choose the position**. 4. Move the map to bring the centre crosshair onto the point you want. 5. Tap **Confirm the position**. A marker appears on the map, visible to participants. ### Attaching the tag after a harvest On a hunt linked to a hunting ground, the "Attach a tag" screen opens by itself after a HARVESTED report, once the harvest is saved. 1. Choose a tag in **Recommended tags** (those of the chosen type or category). The others are in **Other tags for the species**. 2. Tap **Attach** on its row. 3. If you chose a tag from another category, the "Unusual category" alert appears. Tap **Attach** to confirm. No tag for this harvest? Tap **No tag** at the bottom of the screen. ### Attaching or removing a tag later The **Tag** button on the details card only appears for the person who made the report and for the people organising the hunt. 1. On the live map, tap the harvest's marker. 2. On its details card, tap **Tag**. 3. Choose the tag and tap **Attach**, or tap **Remove this tag** to remove the one marked "Attached". ### Editing or deleting a report The **Edit** and **Delete** buttons on the details card only appear for the person who made the report and for the people organising the hunt. 1. On the live map, tap the harvest's marker. 2. On its details card, tap **Edit**. The "Edit report" sheet opens. 3. Change the status, the game, the number or the drive, then tap **Update**. The point stays where it is. If the new status is HARVESTED on a hunt linked to a hunting ground, the "Attach a tag" screen opens when you save. ### Deleting a report The **Delete** button on the details card only appears for the person who made the report and for the people organising the hunt. 1. On the live map, tap the harvest's marker. 2. On its details card, tap **Delete**. 3. In the "Delete this report?" alert, tap **Delete**. ## On the web The web has no live hunt screen. Harvests are entered there afterwards: 1. Open the hunt, **Hunt results** page. 2. Click **Enter results on the map**. 3. Click the map where the harvest is. The "Game details" window opens. 4. Fill in **Animal**, **Number** and **Status**, plus the tag type and the category depending on the species. 5. Click **Confirm**. For the "Harvested" status on a hunt linked to a hunting ground, the "Attach a tag" window then opens, with the recommended tags first. ## Good to know - The location of the report is for guidance only. The decision to shoot remains the shooter's. - If you organise the hunt, the "Report" sheet also offers **Reported by** under the status. - The other confirmed participants receive a notification for each report, whatever its status. - In the "Report" sheet, the "Hunting period" badge shows whether the species can be hunted where you are. Tap it to see the periods. - The counters at the top of the live screen (SEEN, HARVESTED, WOUNDED, MISSED) update with each report. - With no network, a reported harvest is sent when the network comes back. If the phone goes 7 days without a connection, the app drops the harvest. It tells you only once, the next time you open the app, with the "Harvests not sent" alert, giving the number of harvests and their dates. Check your harvest log in that case. - A tag can only be attached to a harvest with the HARVESTED status. - An attached tag counts in the harvest plan straight away, without waiting for its validation. The same harvest is never counted twice. - A plan line with a quota stops accepting tags once the number of tags attached or awaiting validation on it has reached that quota. Replacing a tag on the same line is still possible. - Once a tag is validated, only a harvest plan manager can remove it. - While a tag is validated, the harvest is locked: you can no longer change its species, category or status, or delete it. A harvest plan manager must first remove the tag. - A tag attached but not yet validated is released automatically when the harvest's species, category or status changes. ## If something goes wrong - "I don't see the + button": you aren't on the map of a live hunt. - "I don't see the Tag button on the harvest's details card": any of these will hide it. - You are neither the author of the report nor a person organising the hunt. - The harvest doesn't have the HARVESTED status, or it hasn't been sent to the server yet. - The hunt isn't linked to a hunting ground. - "Choose a line from the plan or "Outside the plan" to record a harvest." (mobile): choose the **Tag type**, and the **Category** if it is asked for. - "The tag type is required for a harvest." (web): choose the tag type in the "Game details" window. - "The tag screen doesn't open": it only follows a HARVESTED report, on a hunt linked to a hunting ground. With no network, a message says the harvest will be sent when the network comes back. Attach the tag from the harvest's details card afterwards. - "The tag choice is slow to open": the harvest is being sent. Wait a few seconds or check your connection. - "A tag can only be attached to a harvest marked as harvested.": the harvest doesn't have the HARVESTED status. - "Quota reached on this harvest plan line (… of …).": the number of tags attached or awaiting validation on the line has reached its quota. Choose another line, or ask the plan manager to review the quota. - "Unable to load the tags.": tap **Try again**. - "A validated tag is attached to this harvest. The change was refused." (on mobile, "Change refused" alert): the harvest's tag is validated. Ask a harvest plan manager to remove it, then try again. - "I can't delete my harvest": the harvest's tag is validated. A harvest plan manager must remove it first. - "I got the Harvests not sent alert": harvests reported offline couldn't be sent and were dropped after 7 days without a connection. Check your harvest log, then report again what is missing. - "The harvest's details card shows Not sent to the server yet.": the network dropped. The app sends the harvest again when the network comes back. You can also tap **Try again** on the details card. - "The details card shows Rejected by the server.": the harvest wasn't accepted, for example because of the harvest plan. Check the report, then tap **Try again**. ## See also - [How do I start a live hunt?](article:how-do-i-start-a-live-hunt) - [How do I validate or reject a tag?](article:how-do-i-validate-or-reject-a-tag) - [How do I set up the harvest plan?](article:how-do-i-set-up-the-harvest-plan) - [How do I view the harvest record?](article:how-do-i-view-the-harvest-record)
