How do I remove a member?

Last updated
Remove someone from the hunting ground, delete a manually created record, or decline a pending membership request. You must be an administrator or manager of the hunting ground. The administrator can't be removed. ## On mobile ### Removing a member who has an account 1. **Hunting grounds** tab, open the hunting ground, under "Administration", tap **Members**. 2. Tap the member to open their record. 3. At the very bottom, tap **Remove from the hunting ground**. 4. Confirm "Remove this member from the hunting ground?". ### Deleting the record of a person without an account 1. Open the person's record from the **Members** page. 2. At the very bottom, tap **Delete the record**, then confirm. The record disappears from the member list, along with everything attached to it: hunt registrations, hunt payments, dogs and membership fees with no recorded payment. To keep the history, make the person a former member instead. Open their record from the **Members** page, then: 1. Tap the pencil icon at the top of the record. 2. Turn off **Active member**. 3. Tap **Save**. ### Setting a person as a former member 1. Open the person's record from the **Members** page. 2. Tap the pencil icon at the top of the record. 3. Turn off **Active member**. 4. Tap **Save**. A former member no longer appears in the default list. To find them, tap **Filter**, then "Former members". ### Declining a pending request 1. On the **Members** page, the "Pending requests" section is at the top of the list. 2. Tap the cross on the person's card, then confirm "Decline this request?". **Accept** lets them join the team. You find the same **Accept** and **Decline** buttons on the person's record. **Accept all** only exists on the web. ### Changing the access level of a member who has an account This isn't a removal: the person stays in the hunting ground. 1. Open the member's record from the **Members** page. 2. Tap the pencil icon at the top of the record. 3. Under "Access level", tap **Manager**, **Syndicate member** or **Member**. ## On the web ### Removing a member who has an account 1. **Hunting grounds** menu, open your hunting ground, then the **Members** section in the left menu. 2. Click the member to open their record. 3. In the "Access & permissions" block, click **Remove from the hunting ground**, then confirm. ### Removing a record without an account 1. Open the person's record from the **Members** section. 2. At the bottom of the record, click **Remove from the member list**, then confirm. To keep the history, make the person a former member instead. In the **Members** section, click their record, then: 1. Click **Edit**. 2. Untick **Active member**. 3. Click **Save**. ### Setting a person as a former member 1. **Members** section of the hunting ground, click the person's record. 2. Click **Edit**. 3. Untick **Active member**. 4. Click **Save**. ### Setting several records as former members 1. **Members** section of the hunting ground, tick the records in the table. 2. In the action bar, open the **Status...** menu. 3. Choose **Former**. Members who have an active account are skipped. ### Removing several records at once 1. **Members** section of the hunting ground, tick the records in the table. 2. In the action bar, click **Remove**. 3. In the "Remove the selected members" confirmation, click **Remove**. This action only applies to records without an active account: a member who has an active account is skipped, and a message says so. ### Declining a pending request 1. In the **Members** section, the "To review" block is at the top of the list. 2. Click **Decline** on the request's row, or **Accept** to approve it. From 2 requests onward, **Accept all** approves them all at once. If your plan doesn't have enough slots for everyone, no request is accepted and a message tells you. ### Changing the access level of a member who has an account This isn't a removal: the person stays in the hunting ground. 1. **Members** section of the hunting ground, click the member to open their record. 2. In the "Access & permissions" block, open the **Access level** list. 3. Choose **Manager**, **Syndicate member** or **Member**. ## What changes for the removed person They lose access to the hunting ground. The hunting ground disappears from their list, on the web as well as in the app. They receive a "You have been removed from" notification followed by the hunting ground name, with no reason and no name of the person who decided. The hunts from this hunting ground they are registered for remain visible in their hunt list. Their record stays in the member list, marked "Former" on the web and "Former member" on mobile: you keep their history, and the slot they occupied is freed from your quota. Their registrations in past hunts remain in your history. The same happens when a member leaves the hunting ground on their own. To bring them back, re-invite them or accept their new request: they get their record back, with their history. ## Good to know - A request is approved by the administrator or a manager; the person who sent it can't approve it themselves. - An accepted member receives a welcome notification. A declined request is dismissed: the person receives the "Membership request" notification with the text "Your request to join" followed by the hunting ground name and "was not accepted.", with no reason. - A member who leaves the hunting ground themselves, or who cancels their own request, doesn't trigger any notification. - The Administrator level can't be assigned through the access levels: it goes through the ownership transfer. ## Troubleshooting - "I cannot remove this member": you don't have the right to manage members, or you are trying to remove the administrator. - "I cannot set a member as a former member": they have an active account on the hunting ground, and **Active member** stays locked on their record. Remove them from the hunting ground from their record: they automatically become a former member. - "A former member still sees the hunting ground": the hunting ground disappears from their list at the time of removal. If it is still there, they are still a member: check their record. - "This member has recorded membership fees: deactivate them instead.": a membership fee payment exists on the record, even if pending or refunded, so the record can't be deleted. A cancelled or failed payment doesn't block. Set the person as a former member. - "I deleted a record by mistake": a deleted record can't be recovered. Recreate it, or accept the person's new request if they have an account. ## See also - [How do I manage the member list of my hunting ground?](article:how-do-i-manage-the-member-list-of-my-hunting-ground) - [How do I invite members?](article:how-do-i-invite-members) - [How do I understand roles and permissions?](article:how-do-i-understand-roles-and-permissions) - [How do I leave a hunting ground?](article:how-do-i-leave-a-hunting-ground)
