How do I set a shooting sector for a stand?

Last updated
A shooting sector is a direction, an opening and a range, drawn on the map around the stand. It shows the hunter placed there what angle the shot is expected from and how far. You must be a member of the hunting ground with the "Manage stands" permission. To set the sector from a map, you also need the "Manage maps" permission. The administrator and managers have these permissions by default; a syndicate member or member must receive them from the administrator. The stand must already have a GPS position: the sector is drawn around that location. **Watch the video: shooting sector and safety distances (2 min 53, in French)** https://youtu.be/T4n_FMRiUP4 ## On mobile ### From the record of a stand already placed 1. Open the hunting ground, "Hunting ground" group, then **Stands**. 2. Tap the stand. 3. In the **Shooting sector (optional)** section, tap **Set the shooting sector**. 4. The full-screen editor opens. Drag the handles on the map: one sets the direction and range, the other the opening. The values are shown at the bottom under **Direction**, **Opening** and **Range**. 5. Tap **Confirm sector**. The record shows the summary, for example "Direction 120° · Opening 60° · 100 m". 6. Tap **Save**. Until you save, the sector isn't kept. If the stand already has a sector, the section shows its summary and "Tap to change the sector" instead of **Set the shooting sector**: tap that line to edit it, then continue from step 4. ### Remove the sector from a stand already placed 1. Open the hunting ground, "Hunting ground" group, then **Stands**. 2. Tap the stand. 3. In the **Shooting sector (optional)** section, tap **Remove sector**. 4. Tap **Save**. Until you save, the sector isn't removed. ### From the record of a new stand 1. Open the hunting ground, "Hunting ground" group, then **Stands**. 2. Tap the plus button at the top of the screen. 3. Fill in the **Number**. 4. Tap **Place the stand on the map**. Move the map to aim at the stand's location, or tap **Place at my position**, then tap **Confirm the position**. The **Shooting sector (optional)** section then appears in the record. 5. Tap **Set the shooting sector**, adjust the handles, then tap **Confirm sector**. 6. Tap **Create stand**. Until you create the stand, the sector isn't kept. To remove the sector before creating the stand, tap **Remove sector**. ### From the hunting ground's map 1. Open the hunting ground, "Hunting ground" group, then **Maps**. 2. Tap **Edit** on the map. 3. Tap a stand, then **Shooting sector** in the sheet that opens. 4. Adjust the sector, then tap **Confirm sector**. It is saved straight away, with no further step. ### Hunter: view the sector of your stand 1. Open the hunt. 2. Open the **My stand** tab. 3. Tap **View my stand on the map** (**View my stands on the map** if you have several stands). The sector is shown around your stand. ## On the web ### Set the sector from the stand menu 1. **Hunting grounds** menu, open your hunting ground, **Maps** tab, then click **Edit map**. 2. Click a stand, then **Shooting sector** in the stand menu. The panel switches to sector settings. 3. Two handles appear on the map: one sets the direction and range, the other the opening. The **Opening** slider adjusts the angle more finely. 4. Click **Done** to return to the stand record. 5. Click **Save**. Until you save, the sector isn't kept. ### Set the sector from the Stands dock 1. **Hunting grounds** menu, open your hunting ground, **Maps** tab, then click **Edit map**. 2. In the left dock, click **Stands**, then open a stand that has coordinates. 3. Click **Shooting sector**. 4. Adjust the handles, then click **Done**. 5. Click **Save**. ### Remove the sector from a stand 1. **Hunting grounds** menu, open your hunting ground, **Maps** tab, then click **Edit map**. 2. Click the stand, then **Shooting sector** in the stand menu. 3. In the sector panel, click **Remove sector**. The panel returns to the stand record. 4. Click **Save**. The shooting sector can't be set in the "New stand" window of the hunting ground's **Stands** tab: you must go through a map. ## The three settings - **Direction**: the central axis of the sector, in degrees (0° = north), from 0° to 359°. - **Opening**: the width of the angle, to the left and right of the direction, from 10° to 360° in total. On mobile, when the angle is too narrow for the opening handle to fit on screen, two − and + buttons replace it, below the **Opening** label. - **Range**: the distance covered, from 25 m to 300 m. The apex of the arc is always the stand. The result is a green arc, like a slice of cheese on the map. The rest of the disc, at the same range, appears in red: this is the area outside the sector. With an opening of 360°, there is no red. ## Who sees the sector The sector is visible on the hunting ground's maps and on maps shared via a public link. On a hunting ground map projected during the briefing, it stays visible as long as the **Stands** family is shown. The map of a drive shows no sector: it shows who is placed where. When projected during the briefing, it shows none either. The hunter placed on the stand sees the sector on the mobile app, from the hunt. ## Good to know - The sector is optional. A stand without a sector works normally. - It is attached to the stand, so it is reused for every hunt that uses that stand. - A reminder accompanies the sector editor: shooting angles are indicative and defined under your sole responsibility; each hunter remains responsible for identifying their target and surroundings before any shot. The hunter placed sees "Sector is indicative: always check your target and surroundings before shooting." The decision to shoot remains the shooter's. ## If something goes wrong - "I don't see the Shooting sector section": the stand doesn't yet have a GPS position. Place it on the map first. - "On the web, I don't see Shooting sector in the stand menu": you are missing the "Manage stands" permission. Without it, the stand menu only offers **Safety** and **Route**. Ask the hunting ground administrator for this permission. - "I can't find the setting on the web": it exists only from a map, in a stand's menu or in the **Stands** panel. - "My sector has disappeared": on mobile from the stand record, and on the web, **Confirm sector** or **Done** isn't enough. You must still save the stand. - "On mobile, I tap a stand on a map and I only see **View details**": the map is open in read-only mode. If you opened it from a hunt, tap **Edit** at the top of the screen. If **Edit** isn't shown, you don't have the "Manage maps" permission: ask the hunting ground administrator. - "On the web, nothing opens when I click a stand, and I don't have the left dock": the map is open in read-only mode because you don't have the "Manage maps" permission. Ask the hunting ground administrator. - "The hunter doesn't see the sector": check they are placed on that stand and that the stand has a saved sector. On mobile, they open it from the **My stand** tab of the hunt, with **View my stand on the map**. ## See also - [How do I place stands?](article:how-do-i-place-stands) - [How do I create a map?](article:how-do-i-create-a-map) - [How do I project a map during the briefing?](article:how-do-i-project-a-map-during-the-briefing)
